Every student receives 15 hours of lessons each week from professionally qualified and friendly teachers. The maximum number of students in a class is 15, so every student will receive individual attention.
Five mornings each week are spent focusing on classroom-based English learning, tailored to international young learners. On the morning following their arrival, all children have a language assessment in both spoken and written English, and are then placed in language classes on the basis of ability, age and nationality.
The English language summer school syllabus focuses on communication and fluency and has been specifically designed for students aged 8 to 12. We use modern language teaching techniques, encouraging students to develop their English by providing them with information that is relevant and useful to help bring the English language to life. Each child’s progress is monitored closely during their stay and on departure all students receive an Abberley Hall Summer School Certificate, plus a Progress Report.
For students of an Upper Intermediate or Advanced level of English, we offer an alternative to the five mornings of general English language lessons with our Subject Study course, which combines English language with a range of subjects including History, Geography, Science, Creative Writing and English Literature. Subject Study takes place during 3 hours of morning lessons, replacing the general English language classes. Children can take the Subject Study course for a maximum of 4 weeks.
