At Headington we encourage our students to communicate freely and help them to develop their language skills through imaginative teaching. Every student receives 15 hours of lessons each week with professionally qualified and friendly teachers to ensure that they learn at the right pace. On their arrival, each student is assessed so that they are placed in the correct class for their ability to ensure maximum progression during their stay. Classes take place on 5 mornings each week, with a maximum class size of 15.
Our lessons are interactive and communicative, designed to cover the areas of speaking, listening and writing as part of our comprehensive English syllabus. Students are encouraged to express their ideas and practise relevant vocabulary and grammar, which helps in developing our students’ confidence in expressing themselves in English. Students are monitored and encouraged to practise their study skills throughout their stay, and all students receive a Certificate and a Progress Report at the end of their course.
For those students wishing to experience an alternative type of study programme, our Subject Study course allows students to develop their English skills through the study of other subjects. The subjects studied, all taught in English, include History, Geography, Creative Writing, English Literature and Science.
This programme is available to students of an Upper Intermediate and Advanced level of English and takes place during the 15 hours of morning lessons, for a small additional cost. Students can participate in the Subject Study course for a maximum of 4 weeks.
We also offer an additional 2 afternoons of English classes per week with our English Plus+ Intensive English courses. English Plus courses are optional and each student can select one English Plus course each week, at a small additional cost. Where selected, English Plus replaces the Multi-Activity Programme for two afternoons each week. Full details of the English Plus+ offering at Headington are available here.
