Programme Overview

SAT Preparation

Course Requirements:

The SAT Preparation Course is aimed at students who are currently at an Upper Intermediate level of English or above. Our students are tested before arrival using a two-part online English assessment, to accurately assess their level.

Over the course of 3 weeks, students on the SAT Preparation Course will have over 80 hours of academic study, focusing on the academic English language and mathematical skills required to prepare them for SAT examination.

Our SAT Preparation Course will enable students to further develop and enhance their academic English skills in order to prepare for SAT examination and future university studies. Through continuous practise during seminars, lectures and one-to-one or small group tutorials, students will focus on developing specific areas, including:

Throughout the 3-week programme students will focus on Writing and Language, Critical Reading, Mathematics and essay writing, as well as refining their examination techniques. In addition, our SAT Preparation students will also improve key transferable skills such as verbal ability, mathematical competence and logical reasoning, through a series of discussions, test scenarios and further exercises.

By the end of the course students will have improved their academic literacy, gained a better understanding of the key skills required for the SAT examination and will feel more confident in making their application to enter English-language university systems. Please note that this course does not include the official SAT examination. Students will need to register for the examination independently after the course.

IELTS Preparation

Course Requirements

The IELTS Preparation Course is aimed at students who are currently at an Upper Intermediate level of English or above.  Our students are tested before arrival using a two-part online English assessment, to accurately assess their level.

Over the course of 3 weeks students on the IELTS Preparation Course will have over 80 hours of academic study, focusing on the academic English language skills required to prepare them for IELTS examination:

Our IELTS Preparation Course offers students the opportunity to improve their academic English skills, with a focus on developing their fluency and accuracy across the four key areas of IELTS examination: speaking, writing, reading and listening. Students will also have the opportunity to develop and practise examination techniques and participate in workshops designed to improve their academic literacy.

By the end of the course students will have improved their academic literacy, gained a better understanding of the key skills required for the IELTS examination and will feel more confident in making their application to enter English-language university systems. University Preparation

Course Requirements

The University Preparation Course is aimed at students who are currently at an Upper Intermediate level of English or above.  Our students are tested before arrival using a two-part online English assessment, to accurately assess their level.

Over the course of 3 weeks students on the University Preparation Course will have over 80 hours of academic study, focusing on the academic English language skills required to prepare them for university.

In order to build towards academic success at university, the University Preparation Course will focus on developing students’ academic reading and writing ability. In addition, the course is designed to enhance presentation and listening skills, as well as broaden students’ understanding of academic conventions and practice. Through daily seminars, lectures and one-to-one or small group tutorials, students will have the opportunity to practise and refine their academic literacy skills with specific attention to the following areas:

Students on the University Preparation Course will be shown how to make the step from the academic approaches learnt at school to those that will give them the advantage at university. The course enables our students to build on their academic literacy, language competence and focus on essential study skills.

By the end of the course students will have a greater understanding of the key skills required for successful study at university, developed their strategies for independent learning and broadened their knowledge of UK culture, by visiting some of the UK’s top universities, as well as cultural excursions to local and national places of interest.
