Summer Boarding Courses at Eton College provides our male and female students with the opportunity to study at one of the world’s most famous schools. Founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, Eton College has educated 20 British Prime Ministers as well as numerous authors, scientists, actors, Olympians and explorers.
The historic venue provides a truly inspiring environment for our students to study in. Students can develop their English language skills through a choice of four English Through Academic Subjects: General English, Mathematics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and Humanities. These exciting English summer courses are designed to improve our students’ English language levels by harnessing and developing their interest in studying a specific subject in English in the future. In addition to their English and subject tuition, all students will also have in 10 hours of leadership development each week and participate in an engaging social programme.
The English Through Academic Subjects programme at SBC at Eton College is specifically designed for 13-16-year-old students and aims to improve their level of English through the study of the following subjects: Mathematics, STEM, Humanities and General English. Students receive 15 hours of tuition per week in their chosen subject, culminating in a Time to Shine presentation.
All SBC at Eton College students have the chance to really develop their ability to use English effectively through 10 hours of leadership development each week. This exciting programme is designed to challenge students, build reflective practice and enhance leadership skills. Through a combination of classroom-based learning and practical workshops, our students have the opportunity to combine a practical use of English with the chance to grow and develop as the leaders of tomorrow.
The English summer course programme recognises that there are two key branches to good leadership – a clear sense of self and the ability to bring others with you. Students will be guided to reflect on their purpose, values, what they want to achieve and what kind of leader they aspire to be.
At the end of their English summer course, all students will deliver a group presentation as part of their Time to Shine project. This gives students the opportunity to use their English and demonstrate their learning whilst developing their presentation skills. The Time to Shine presentations take place in Jafar Hall, Eton College’s purpose-built debating chamber – giving students a truly memorable experience.
