Every student receives 15 hours of lessons each week from professionally qualified and friendly teachers. The maximum number of students in a class is 15, so every student will receive individual attention.
Five mornings each week are spent focusing on classroom-based English learning, tailored to international young learners. At SBC Summer Schools we encourage our students to communicate freely and help them to develop their language skills through imaginative teaching. On the morning following their arrival, all children have a language assessment in both spoken and written English, and are then placed in language classes on the basis of ability, age and nationality.
Our lessons are interactive and communicative, designed to cover the areas of speaking, listening and writing as part of our comprehensive English syllabus. Students are encouraged to express their ideas and practise relevant vocabulary and grammar, which helps develop their confidence in expressing themselves.
For students of an Upper Intermediate or Advanced level of English we offer an alternative to the five mornings of general English language lessons with our Subject Study course, which combines English language with a range of subjects including History, Geography, Science, Creative Writing and English Literature. Subject Study takes place during 3 hours of morning lessons, replacing the general English language classes. Children can take the Subject Study course for a maximum of 4 weeks.
